Basic Flu Precautions

(Back)

With all of the concern in the news about the flu, we’d like to advise our residents to take a few basic precautions to guard against the swine influenza type A (H1N1). It's uncertain, at the moment, as to whether this strain is any worse than the regular flu, so please don't be overly alarmed, but do be cautious. The good news is that we are moving into the summer months, and the flu doesn't like our heat.

‘Wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap, or use an alcohol-based hand gel. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, visit your health care provider if you have flu symptoms, and stay home if you have a fever along with any respiratory symptoms.’

We would like to announce some other preventive measures we are taking to be on the safe side.  All of our employees have been advised to take these basic precautions. Signs have been posted in all employee areas in both English and Spanish. Anti-Bacterial gel and wipes will be made available in the restrooms. Any one reporting to work who is not well will be asked to return when they are feeling better.

Naturally, we will continue our usual practice of careful hygiene in the Dining Room and the Clubhouse, for your safe, and enjoyable, experience.

Preventing the Flu: Good Health Habits Can Help Stop Germs.

1. Avoid close contact.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.

2. Stay home when you are sick.
If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.

3. Cover your mouth and nose.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.

4. Clean your hands.
Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs.

5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

6. Practice other good health habits.
Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

Thank you for your courtesy towards your neighbors.
